Privacy Policy — BackerBridge
Last updated: March 29, 2026
Noksen Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides BackerBridge, a Shopify application that helps merchants connect crowdfunding backers to their Shopify store. This policy explains how we handle personal information in that context. Shopify’s platform is also subject to Shopify’s privacy policy.
1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to merchants who install BackerBridge, and to individuals whose data we process when those merchants use the app (for example backers or customers when features sync or create records in Shopify).
2. Information we process
The types of data depend on which features you enable and which Shopify scopes you approve. They may include:
- Shop and staff data. Store name, domain, contact email, plan, and staff identifiers needed to run the app.
- Customer and order data. Names, email addresses, shipping addresses, order lines, and fulfillment status when you use features that read or write orders and customers in Shopify.
- Crowdfunding / backer data. Information you import or connect from third-party crowdfunding sources (for example CSV uploads or API integrations), which may include backer names, emails, pledge tiers, and reward selections — only as you configure the integration.
- Technical data. IP addresses, logs, cookies or similar identifiers on our web surfaces (such as the embedded app admin), and security telemetry.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve BackerBridge
- Authenticate the app with Shopify’s APIs
- Support merchants and troubleshoot issues
- Detect fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with law and respond to lawful requests
We do not sell personal information as defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws. We do not use your buyers’ data for unrelated third-party marketing.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
If GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on performance of a contract (providing the app), legitimate interests (security, improvement, support), consent where required (e.g. certain cookies or marketing), and legal obligation where applicable.
5. Sharing
We may disclose information to:
- Shopify, as necessary for the app to function on their platform
- Cloud hosting, email, and monitoring vendors under data-processing terms
- Crowdfunding platforms or tools you explicitly connect
- Authorities when required by law
6. Retention
We retain merchant account and configuration data while the app is installed. Operational logs are retained for a limited period. Upon uninstall, we delete or anonymize customer data we hold on behalf of the store within a reasonable period, except where law requires retention. Merchants may request deletion timelines via support.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS, access controls, and least-privilege API access. Merchants are responsible for securing their Shopify admin and any third-party accounts they link.
8. Your rights
Depending on jurisdiction, individuals may request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of processing, or opt out of certain uses. Merchants can manage much of this data in Shopify. End customers may contact the merchant or us as described below. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA; we do not “sell” or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as part of BackerBridge’s core offering unless we disclose otherwise and offer opt-out.
9. International transfers
We may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate transfer mechanisms.
10. Children
BackerBridge is not directed at children under 16.
11. Changes
We will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the Shopify admin, email to the store contact, or in-app notice.
